Vitamin A Palmitate, also called retinyl palmitate, is present in most animal products. It is a retinoid (retinol) and retinoids are the bioavailable substances, because they have high absorption rate and work efficiently.
Ingredients: Vitamin C (as L-Ascorbic acid), Vitamin A (5000 IU, as retinyl palmitate).
Vitamin A divides into two specific groups: retinoids and carotenoids.
Carotenoids are the pigments that give plants and fruit their bright colours. Unlike retinoids, carotenoids are not very bioavailable, because their conversion to retinoids is very minimal.
Vitamin A is beneficial for healthy vision, immune function, reproductive and skin health, among others.
Study:
This is a study on the importance of adequate amounts of vitamin A for an optimal immune system function. This is from that study: “Vitamins are essential constituents of our diet. They have long been known to influence the immune system. Vitamins D and A have received particular attention in recent years. This is because they have been shown to have an unexpected and crucial effect on the immune response. We present and discuss our current understanding of the essential roles of vitamins. This is in modulating a broad range of immune processes, such as lymphocyte activation and proliferation, T-helper-cell differentiation.
But also tissue-specific lymphocyte homing, the production of specific antibody isotypes and regulation of the immune response. Finally, we discuss the clinical potential of vitamin A and D metabolites for modulating tissue-specific immune responses. And for preventing and/or treating inflammation and autoimmunity.”
