How toxic do you think you are? Shall we find out?
There are over 100,000 harmful toxins humans are exposed to, which can contribute to the development of dangerous symptoms and diseases, to include gut related, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, hormonal, cancer, skin problems, auto-immune diseases and much more.
To find out about your toxic exposure and possible overload, please answer the following questions. As you answer the questions, please add up all the “yeses” together and I will meet you again at the end of the questionnaire. Let’s get started!
- Have you ever taken prescription medicines or over the counter drugs?
- Do you suffer with acne, or other skin conditions?
- Do you brush your teeth with conventional toothpaste containing SLS and fluoride?
- Do you have mercury dental fillings?
- Do you get more than one cold per year?
- Do you smoke, ever smoked or exposed to secondary or tertiary smoke?
- Do you feel tired throughout the day?
- Can’t you lose weight or do you gain weight easily?
- Do you have a strong body odor?
- Are you sensitive to strong smells?
- Do you use conventional make-up, beauty products, shampoos, body washes and deodorants every day?
- Do you dye or bleach your hair?
- Do you drink unfiltered tap water or use it for your coffees or teas?
- Do you have wall to wall carpet in your office or at home?
- Do you mostly eat non-organic food?
- Has your household been decorated with conventional paint and furniture?
- Do you wear dry cleaned clothes?
- Do you wear clothing made from synthetic material?
- Do you eat processed food?
- Do you drink alcohol regularly?
- Do you have a bowel movement less than once a day?
- Do you shower with a conventional showerhead?
- Do you eat farmed fish or conventionally produced eggs or raised livestock?
- Do you swim in public swimming pools?
- Do you live in a big city?
- Do you drive in heavy traffic or walk or run along busy roads?
- Do you take the underground regularly?
- Are you a builder, indoors decorator, pharmacist or your profession exposes you to toxins anyway?
- Do you use conventional household cleaning products?
- Do you have black mold in your home?
- Do you use weed killer on your lawn?
- Do you use cologne or perfumes?
- Do not exercise regularly?
- Do you use clingfilm or aluminum foil to store your food in?
- Do you buy food in plastic packaging?
- Do you have heavy airplane traffic in your area?
- Do you live in close proximity to an industrial estate, recycling or waste collection center?
- Do you live or work by a busy road?
- Do you eat at the restaurant or buy takeaways more than twice a week?
- You never performed a full body detox.
And the list goes on and on and on I am afraid…
As you can see from this very short questionnaire, it is virtually impossible to escape the toxic environment, no matter how hard we try. Therefore, it takes conscious and constant commitment and knowledge to stay clean and healthy.
So, let’s have a look at your results:
- If you scored less than 10 “yeses”: you may be already aware of the harmful effects of toxins and may be taking some precautions to decrease your exposure to them. This is very good for you! Well done! You may anyway benefit from periodic cleansing to support a healthy lifestyle.
- If your score is between 11 and 20 “yeses”, then your exposure to toxins is quite high and you may possibly suffer from some of the symptoms related to toxins overload. If this is you, please consider a full body cleanse to start with. You may also want to change few of your dietary habits and engage in moderate physical activity.
- If your score exceeds 20, then your toxic load is very high and you may be at risk of developing some chronic disease. If you are within this group, and you believe to have been for many years, I will definitely recommend to seek professional advice on how to perform a safe and effective cleansing programme, especially if you have never done a cleanse before, suffer from a chronic disease and are on medications. You may need to slowly, but gradually, change your conventional eating habits, find an exercise or sport you enjoy doing, adopt a cleaner lifestyle, use a sauna from time to time (if you have no contraindications to it) and often spend time in uncontaminated nature.
Study:
This study shows how certain toxins can cause the onset or progression of Alzheimer’s disease. From that study: “Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. It is the most common cause of dementia, affecting millions of men and women worldwide. Studies show an accumulation of extracellular amyloid-beta (A beta) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles inside neurons and dystrophic neurons. Several risk factors can cause the early onset and progression of the disease.
Although scientists do not know the initiating molecular events, in recent years it has become evident that environmental and/or nutritional factors may play a causal, disruptive, and/or protective role in the development of AD. Epidemiological evidence suggests that elevated levels of these metals in the brain may cause the development or progression of AD. This review summarizes studies which implicate a role for several metals in contributing to or causing AD.”
